Biljana Djurdjevic

In the paintings of Biljana Đurđević, bodies devoid of juices, abandoned and forgotten, become a metaphor for all our ordeals. Relying on the traditional experience of Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism, this artist presents the ramifications of rage and violence in the contemporary world, placing them inside rooms adorned by meticulously worked out pictural details. In this way, her pictures are experienced as tiny stages upon which a play is performed, with cautionary topics and characters that remind us of that personal segment of our lives that we would rather forget - transience.
