| Sargsyan Azat Born in1965 in Yerevan, Armenia. Lives and works in Yerevan and Stockholm. Public Construvism On a first level the use of the adjective “public” in front of the word “constructivism” seems rather bizarre. The artists of constructivism, an artistic movement connected with soviet Russia in the 1920’s, aimed at new proposals which would change the aesthetics of everyday life and would seal the new principles of the innovative, contemporary man who followed the political, social and technological developments of his era. Nonetheless, the public display of a geometrical installation with the symmetrical chiaroscuro of the morning light would reveal nothing but a simple scaffolding construction aiming at its destruction as soon as its auxiliary role was gone. Even so, Azat claims that “public” does not only represent the permanent and established services to man but reflects the transient and practical element as well, which will reprocess its use so as to become the crutch of human labour for once again. As the tool becomes an extension of the hand, in the same way the scaffolding becomes the spine which will support the artistic procedure and at the end the action per se.
