| Jitrik Magdalena Born in 1966 in Buenos Aires. Lives and works in Argentine. I try to live and work in the art environment and to be sensitive to its manifestations. I admire what artists do and think -anywhere in the world and at any moment in history-, producing objects that express, represent and define me. I am interested in art as transformation of matter, as a way to make concrete the imaginary, underline the real, as individual’s and society's transformation. The process of art producing as a way of knowledge and understanding of reality interests me. Art as a mean to solve problems, to pose questions. Painting has a plus as a unique experience. To me is a ceremony, a moment of extreme freedom. My painting obeys to impulses, ideas or images that accumulate and suddenly condense in a group of paintings. I don't carry a brush till this happens, if there isn't a strong reason for this. All my activities are definitively focused to produce such impulses. I face the definitions of painting's “death”, defending it as a universal language; perhaps for that reason this practice has been so much under attack. To come and go in its history, to review its discoveries, repeating its adventures; any portrait, any abstract painting are like excursions to the same mountains, since immemorial times.
